I am new to laptop harddrives and all I know is that an s270 needs an ata-6 or ultra ata/100 harddrive. However, what other specifications must be correct for the harddrive to fit into the laptop and function? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Needs to be 2.5 inches, designed for laptop. Higher RPM, either 5400 or 7200, will help the performance.

You can find some DIY harddrive installation guide in

I don't think you can cool the HDD itself, but there are plenty laptop cooling pads out there.

thx for the help. Also gonna try to cool the CPU on this thing with some Arctic Silver 5. Even though the CPU temp with CHC is at 45 with normal use, it skyrockets to about 70 under full load like when it's running 3dmark05. Hope it brings down the temp.
