Why "not as expected in Japanese"? Because it uses 9700 over 9200 for the Standard? There are four S lines in Japan: S52, S62, S72, & S92 and only two of them are Sonomas. I'll say wait till next week and see if we get an S370 in Sonoma.

hm when will the sonoma version be released then? If the S360 is already 1900/2000, how much will the high spec cost? 2300?

As far as I heard from talking to Sony reps at the Consumer Electronics show, they didn't seem to indicate the Sonoma platform versions of the S were coming anytime soon. They said a "revision" to the S was due, and that ATI 9700 was standard. No mention of DDr2 or the GeForce card versions. :(

While it is disappointing to have to wait longer for the new S, all Sonoma notebooks by other brands have disappointing release dates as well. I guess we will just have to wait. I really wish the S in US will use something other than 6200 TC -- or at least gives us the 6200 256 MB TC version.

Standard 1799 from sonystyle.com (included 100$ rebate) and comes with 80gb with 9700 standard is pretty good no?

It also weighs only 3.9 pounds with the standard battery. (read the pdf info file on sonystyle's website.

Datavis is offering this exact same thing for 1699$ (included 100$ rebate).

Even if the Sonoma features the 6200, it won't be faster then the 9700, and will feature the same or higher prices.

Honestly I fail to see how the 6200TC would be an improvement - it can't be faster - is the battery life dramatically better?

The new X700 mobile seems to perform pretty well for a mobile GPU. I would love to see that.

    Hi, i can't get a s2xp anymore here [ :(]
I don't need the fastest ATI or Nvidia card but if we compare the 9700 and the 6200 go?? i somehow think the 9700 is faster.. or not ???

Please tell me i'm wrong because the only thing i can get my hands on here is the s3xp [ :D]
