hi everyone..
is there a comparison between the sony s380 and the s270 ..
lets say if they had all the same specifications..
2ghz processor, 80gb harddisk, 1gb ram, extended battery...
how will those to perform... and what will be the difference?

I think the more accurate question is the S360P versus the S270. The S360P is the last version of the "Dothan" processor chipset while the 270 is the middle of the pack of the Dothans. The 380 being the new "Sonoma" The 360P is lower price than the 380 and is only about 10% slower on average. The 360P has one major advantage over the 270- the 270 has 32 megs of dedicated Video RAM whil ethe 360P has a slightly upgraded chipset but 64 megs of dedicated Video memory. the price between the two (S360P and S270) was not that different the last I checked. If I were you I would og with the 360P - With XP Pro.

ok what about the s380 vs the s270? ..
because im really thinking of a great laptop with lots of battery life..
between them.. which lasts longer.. and does the performance varries alot? .. or is it not worth the sacrifice in battery life? -
The S270 probably has the longer battery life and is about 20% slower (depending on the app) than the 380- the 380 is about 10% faster than the 360 (again depending on the app). The Bottom Line is that the 380 is the fastest of all the S models but they do take up more battery life than the others- I remdied that buy buying the extneded life battery- can watch a movie and half on the extended battery. Just amek sure that you order the S270 with XBRITE screen! Not all configs have that screen.
