I have an older Sony Vaio laptop T-250 that has been problem free for over 7 years! The USB ports have recently failed and I have a lot of stuff I want to transfer to a new computer. I have 7 years of stuff I still want. I was able to move some to an external hard drive and the USB on the laptop died before I could complete. Is there a way of hooking up an external USB hub via the S400 port so that I can sync my ipod, etc. one last time? I also would like to move some documents, etc. using an eternal hard drive but need a usb port to do that. Any thoughts?
    THANKS!

Why not do it over a network?

Network would be easiest, otherwise I think you can get a firewire to USB converter kit and move everything to an external hard drive. More important than syncing your iPod would be retrieving all your music I suspect.

Worst case, he can retrieve the music directly from his iPod. Take a few steps, but is worth it.

What kind of connection does your internal HDD have? Can you get an enclosure for it (essentially turning it into an external drive) and connect it to another computer, or the replacement laptop?
