Hi all,
I just got my S460 yesterday and is in the process of installing a fresh-clean Windows XP Pro. The install went fine until it ask for the LIcense Product Key. I entered the number from the sticker at the bottom of my S460B but WinXP said it's an invalid key(!)
Is there anything specific with the the pre-installed WinXP that will prevent installation of fresh WinXP from another CD?
Thanks.

I just spoke to some people and I was told that certain WinXP CD only accept certain number of license key, especially those that came pre-installed in a new laptop. If this is true, that means my S460B can only use WinXP that came pre-installed and not any other WinXP Pro CD, even though I have a legit key at the bottom of the S460.
I am not sure if this is true.. (?) -
i didnt realize win xp home cd keys were valid on win xp pro.

I have Windows XP Pro preinstalled on my S460B, so the keys is for such version.
BTW, I even tried to enter my Dell Inspiron 9100 XP Pro key (bottom of the machine), and guess what? It still doesn't work. I think something is there that require the specific VAIO S460 WinXP PRO version.
S460B Windows XP invalid? Please advise
