I have an S580 and port replicator, and am surprised that it doesn't handle hot docking/undocking very well.

Specifically the problems are around the external display I have connected to the port replicator - if I undock while powered on, it doesn't recognize that the second monitor is gone and lets me scroll off the side. Likewise if I dock while on, it doesn't recognize the 2nd monitor at all.

Also, unlike my 4 year old Thinkpad T20, it doesn't have the ability to auto-select between two XP hardware profiles when docked/undocked - it makes me select a profile on startup every time.

The partial solution for docking is to go to Standby first (so "warm" docking I guess) but this works for undocking only -it still doesn't recognize the external monitor (attached to the port rep) on docking.

Am I missing something? Perhaps a driver install or update? Or is it just not as smart as it should be?

    Thx
