I am considering an S580, but am wondering if anything can be done to replace the huge power brick that seems to currently be shipping with it. Is there are previous version or aftermarket model that would work well and save size and weight??
    Thanks,
    Andrew

I know Sony (here in US or anywhere else) does not have one and I have no heard of an aftermarket one. Anyone else has heard anything on this? It will be a great help to restore S580's mobility back to Dothan S series' level.

I use Igo Juice 70 universal power adapter. It may be a lil heavyier than u wud expect (lighter than the sony one maybe) but I can also charge my ipod/ digicam/cell phone with a dual adapter and appropriate tips!!!. So, I never have to take 4 adapters with me when i travel!!! its awesome!!! i can use it at home, planes, (trains??) and automobiles!!! available on ebay for cheap!

On the iGo Store site, the adapters listed as compatible with the VGN-S580 are the: "iGo everywhere 130" and the "iGo ice 90" but not the "iGo Juice 70" that you are using. Any idea why? Or are you using an older model of S Series???

I agree - I have the S560P (wish I would have gotten the TX) and the power brick is huge - I have searched and searched for a small after market brick - targus, kennsington and igo all say they do not support this model. If anyone know of one that works can they please post it?

By the way - COMPUSA dropped the price on the extended battery on the S560 from $299 to $199. I picked one up yesterday.

What happened to the slim AC adapters that Sony has provided with the first generation S-series?

**** I need to go to Compusa then!

BTW, those of you with the S series don't know what a power "brick" is until you buy a dell XPS... (The sony is tiny in comparison)
