I couldn't find a review for the S580, and indeed could only find it at a few vendors (Super Warehouse). But, it seems like a nice pricepoint-to-features balance at around $1350. Can anyone give impressions of this machine? I couldn't even find it on Sony's page. VAIOs have such high ratings, but dang if I can't keep track of what is what with their models, and not being able to go to their own website is frustrating.

I'm looking for a 13", sub 5-pound, preferably glossy screen, under $1500, that is NOT NOISY.. i just bought an Acer Travelmate 3002, which is awesome except for the loudish fan that comes on too much for my tastes, so it will be returned to Buy.com.

This VAIO S580 came up on my radar... but can't find any impressions of it. Does anyone know about the fan noise on this machine? I know the heat gets a little high, and I don't mind that, but is the heat high because the fan ISN'T constantly loudly running?

Although mainly to be used for extensive web browsing, paper writing, and spreadsheets, I would love to be able to play some light games on it, such as The Movies or Sims 2 or possibly an RTS. The Travelmate's integrated graphics handled The Movies surprisingly well-- I wonder if GeForce GO chip in these VAIOs would even surpass that performance.

Alternately does anyone have any other suggestions for laptops fitting my mentioned ideals?

A final note-- is it foolish for me to be purchasing a computer when Core Duo laptops are widely coming into the marketplace? Do they offer a significant-enough battery/CPU improvement that I should hold out for?

Thanks for any input in advance!

EDIT: After looking more at the SZ120 (it is currently about $1750 AR from amazon), I was wondering if the $400 upgrade is recommended. Again, noise is my biggest worry.. Thanks!
