S580 sound driver problem

Hello Guys,
After a long search I ended up buying S580 last month.Last week,I started clean installation of XP pro.I had my recovery discs ready.Everything was smooth,but after following all the directions,the audio driver is giving me a problem.
My laptop cannot detect the sound card.I tried everything,but couldnt get it to work.I had some problem with my previous OS also.
I used to get an error "audio mixer not initialized" while using yahoo messenger.I ignored it cos nehow i would be installing XP pro.But now its getting me on my nerves and ruined by weekend.
I would really appreciate ne kind of help from u guys....

i had same problem as you did.

First update your window. (i thinkto sp2)

and download audio driver from sony esupport.

install

and it worked for me : )

I did install the driver after installing sp2..but to no vail..
i get the error message "Realtek audio driver enabled but not funtioning properly" ...Let me know if nething else i can do....
Is there a thread where i could find a step by step procedure for complete reinstall...
