    Hi guys,

Before I return my laptop I thought I should try here for advice,

I own a Vaio sb19, with the 6630 graphics card, when I have the switch set to stamina the laptop runs fine but when I switch it to Speed text goes fuzzy in certain boxes, eg Mozilla, also I am unable to play any HD videos in youtube .

I went to device manager and searched for updates for a update for the graphics card and found none.

I am up to date according to vaio care and windows updater

When running the video diagnosis in vaio care it fails on video test 1 in speed mode but is fine in stamina mode.

Any advice or suggestions would be invaluable, I really cannot go without a laptop for any extended period of time so I am hoping you can help me.

    Thankyou for any help :)

You should close all applications, (like firefox, ie, etc), switch to speed and then re-open the applications. Did you try this? does it still give problems?

I would download the catalyst 11.5

then extract it to the desktop

then, right click my computer > properties > hardware manager > display adapter, ask for it to look for new drivers in the extracted folders and install the drivers.

if that wont work, try to reinstall the drivers from sony, if that also fails, you have a bad gpu

Hey Mr MM, unfortunately this did not work, thanks for your time though, What happens with a bad GPU? Do I just have to send it in for replacement?

call sony, inform of your problems and deal with the customer service, good luck

before you could try to format and reinstall windows using the recovery partition or the DVDs

sounds like it's just the intel graphics display power saving technology. Did around in the intel graphics menus, you'll see it in there (disable it).
