    Hello all,

I just got my new Sony Vaio VGN FW590FVB yesterday and am having a problem. Once I enter either of my SD cards into the SD slot, they show up fine under "my computer". However, once I am done using them, there is no option on the taskbar to "safely remove" the SD card. There is also no option when I right click on the SD card under "my computer" for "eject".

I called Sony and the gentlemen tried for about 30minutes and then said that I don't need to safely eject the SD card...I could simply take it out! Is this true? I'm pretty sure I have to eject it first.

    Thanks!!!

On any other computer, I just give it a couple of seconds and then yank the thing out.

Same with my external harddrives and such.

There is a policy setting in the devise manager for the card reader. Right click computer/properties/hardware/devise manager/expand disk drives/ Right click sd memory mmc/ Properties/ Policies, There is a selection for optimize for quick removal and optimize for performance. If quick removal is selected don't worry. I have mine set for performance because I use it for a pageing application.
I have an xp downgrade so there might be some varience in how to get there on your system.

Kudoooooos to you man. Thanks a bunch. Yeah Sony was right because I checked what you recommended and it was on "quick removal". Maybe Sony should offer you a job. :)
