    Hi

I've installed win7(32-bit) on my FZ21S and all seems to be working smoothly. A couple of issues have popped up though.

    1. SFEP driver- I've downloaded the latest win7 version from the FTP, and also have a back-up, and cannot for the life of me figure out how to install it. I went to the device manager, (as some1 reccomended) under Human Interface Devices- and it isnt present.
I've also managed to get the recovery disks running half way- by this I mean- Im able to get inside the application and select SFEP to be installed. It begins, and then prompts me to put disk2 in...that is where it hangs, and eventually crashes.

    2. Ive got the volume controls (round controller near AV mode) working, as well as the FnMute button.
However, I cant seem to get the Fn keys for brightness working.

    3. And finnally, the AV mode and S1 buttons are non-functional.

If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers :)

Right click the unknown device (or base system device) in device manager and update the driver by browsing to the driver folder. Can you post a picture of your device manager?.
You need to install SFEP driver, Sony shared library, and Vaio event service in the order mentioned for the fn (Volume and brightness) keys to work. Also install the graphics card driver for the brightness control.
You must install Setting utility series for the S button functionality.
Why don't you follow Gary's guide for the clean install?

OK, I managed to get the SFEP working, thanks for the help Rajesh.
Everything now looks fine in the device manager, with no exclaimation marks.

I have the sony shared library/vaio event service installed previous to getting the SFEP working.
I also have the nvidia graphics drivers installed correctly, but still no avail concerning the brightness Fn buttons.

Im still trying to search out the "settings utilty" driver for S1, as I cant seem to find it on the recovery disk.

And finally, I DID follow gary's guide to the "T" this time and 2years ago successfully installing vista; and for that im grateful.

    Hi singh100,

I am trying to install windows7 on my sisters FZ21s, however I am having some issues maybe you can help me.

the installation was easy but when booting windows 7. the vaio goes to Vaio System recovery mode instead of windows... do I have to delete the OEM partition?

    mike82y,

The forum rules state you should not post the same message to multiple threads. Pick on thread and stick with it.
