    Hi

    Currently i have a Sony Vaio S series VPCS12C5E

basically i can get hdmi working and it detects my sony TV
I can get it to work as extended etc

However i am unable to do what i am curently doing with my current laptop:

I have a ATI 2400HD chipset and i have the ati catalyst command control center. it allows me to set my tv as extended etc.

however it allows me to control video playback so that as soon as i open media player and drag a mkv/avi or any video file into it it will automatically open on the extended side (tv) and i can continue to do work on the laptop

i can also control the video on the laptop side such as minimising/pausing etc.
This way i can continue to do work.

The Media player classic is set to output audio to the TV and it works perfect

The sony vaio however has no software to control the HDMI or run video instantly as soon as its opened with media player after i have found the tv ofcourse.

currently i need to drag the file to extended and open the file and if i need to pause i need to control it from the extended side. There seems no options for auto load to that screen and the fact that i cannot minimise or do anything other than actually control it

when buying the laptop i did not realise it was specific to the ATI control centre but there is no software listed by sony to control the hdmi

do i need to get a new laptop with ATI gfx? this is a biggie for me as its a bit disruptive if a call or something comes as its so much easier with ati graphocs in the ati control centre

    can anyone help

    thanks in advance

Use Win+P or Fn+F7 to switch the display.
