No.... :( ....the FE is also going to have a 7600, does that mean we can upgrade?

I think it's just the Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 that makes it different from the FE's Nvidia GeForce Go 7400.

Not the FJ, the upcoming FJ3.
the only 2 reasons I didnt go with the current FJ is the GPU and CPU.
The FE had the duo and the 7400 while the FJ didnt, but it will this summer.

If the Vaio S series was anything to go by, Sony will update the FZ on a 3-4 monthly basis. Faster CPU, Faster GPU as they become available and a complete model change in 18 months

There are two ways of looking at this:

    1. The hardware that you DO buy WILL become rapidly obsolete

    2. When you DO buy, you'll be getting the best of what is currently available.

I prefer looking it from the perspective of option 2. It doesn't bother me that there exists a better/faster version of the laptop I presently own. It does what I bought it for admirably well. And when the features of the new model make it a necessary "upgrade" then I'll sell the one I own and buy the new.

VERY pleased with the SZ18 and will likely replace this with another Vaio when the time comes.

Why can't an SZ have a X1600 in it? Power considerations?

Both models are great but I'm just holding out for a VAIO with the 64bit Merom. I'll live with my 10 pound Toshiba for a bit longer.

Power space and heat considerations! You would have to live with a hot and loud laptop with a short battery life. No thanks..

Please read the press release again. The FJ3 won't have a GeForce Go 7600. It has still an Intel GMA 900. Only some FE models will have a GeForce!
