Yeah, not cheap, but when you compare with every other laptop of that size, they're pretty much in a class of their own.

I am strongly thinking of getting my work to buy me one - I was looking for a replacement Thinkpad, but they're just nowhere near as good a combination of speed, power and features, and I hear that they're going to take months before they ship... I just need to have a rationale prepared when they look at a Dell ad for a $600 laptop and ask me why I need one that's 5x more expensive...

It's hard to imagine the GeForce 7400 model being any cheaper than the standard SZ. Gosh seeing how Sony sometimes overprices (don't get me wrong, they do sell good laptops) things, the FE you're looking for might as well be more expensive.

edit: Oh, and if you're wondering, here are the specs for the SZ-120:

Same specs as the carbon fiber (premium) model but costs $500 less. Comes with graphics switch capability too.

Not quite the same specs... The $500 seems to buy you lighter, slimmer, possibly longer battery life as well as bluetooth.

But 0.4 pounds doesn't quite justify the $500 extra. Not too sure about the bluetooth though.

True, that's a lot of cash just for something a $50 dollar bluetooth adapter can get you and a little bit of weight. Don't know if the Carbon Fibre case is more rugged than the magnesium, but I doubt it...

The anticipated date of arrival is Mar 20, 2006 , hell no I am not waitng that much and I cant survive with such a small screen such as that of the SZ.

Still no 1.83gghz processor FE series with geforce video card...any idea guys?
