Does anyone know where I can get a list of relative model comparisons for the SONY SZ series? For example, the SONY SZ's in the US are labeled as SZ6xx (e.g. SZ670N/C). In japan however, on the dynamism website, the SZ is SZ93. What is that comparable too? has japaned released the SZ6 series yet with the refreshed graphics card?

The Japanese models are customisable, so there is nothing to compare it to.

Neither have released a Santa Rosa platform SZ. The US are the only ones to list anything about them on their website.

I think the models will be pretty much the same except for the Felica Card reader and Japanese Keyboard/OS. I too am waiting for the info on the Santo Rosa to appear on the Japanese website.

I guessing the next model number might be SZ94 since the current top model is SZ93 (Comparable to the top range SZ4 i think in US) and i have a old SZ90. Mind you this is for the premuim range. All SZ8X, SZ7X are standard models.

Sound confusing enough? I dunno why Sony have different model terms for US/ASIA/EUROPE but i guess it does indicate to a informed buyer which region the laptop is for when they go shopping.

Sony Japan is the HQ. That's basically why all their notebooks are customisable -- they only need to walk out the back and ask someone they want one with this, this and that. They are also the major seller of VAIO notebooks.

I asked the Sony representative for my local state once about not offering customisable models, and his basic response was that it would take far too long to get them to customers. It's easier to have different models covering different market segments, and always have stock available to send to resellers.
