We have a sony vaio VGN AW 21,a laptop which has the Adobe 1998 display gamut which we use for photo editing.,
The OS is Windows Vista 64 bit,and the graphics card is a GeForce 9600 GT,a graphics card that is capable of driving multi monitors ,according tos it's specification.
We connect the vaio to an external EIZO monitor for photo proofing. We colour calibrate the EIZO and create an ICC profile. We then go into the Colour Management dialogue in the Control Panel on the vaio and load the ICC profile as the default profile for the EIZO.
The Colour Management dialogue identifies the two displays separately. However, when we load the ICC profile onto the EIZO,it automatically loads onto the first display ie the vaio display. We do not seem to be able to load a separate profile onto the vaio display eg Adobe 1998,or sRGB.
    Are we missing something?

I just Checked on my Sony VAIO if you go into NVIDIA s control panel over there you should ve able to change it but since you are using a desktop GPU on a laptop , Sony splits the output from the GPU between the laptop and external displays when connected so if you apply the profile it will get applied to both displays but I think there is a workaround where if you disable sonys own color management scheme and if you install the stick NVIDIA gtx9600 graphics driver it may be possible to have it work if your laptop has a display port or a mini I think NVIDIA allows you to set the different profiles then cuz when you use the HDMI port the port is already powering the internal display so only one profile can be active but if you use the dp port 2 different ports are active thus you can apply 2 different profiles
