Hi
I've posted this in the lounge as well but thought I would throw it out in the open as well.
I've recently purchased a VPCSB1AGX - decided on the i7 mainly due to the 1gb 6630m graphics, but only a few weeks later, and trying to play a game for the first time that needed decent graphics I find that in speed mode (hence using the 6630m and not intel onboard) all I'm getting is a garbled screen.
I've been in contact with Sony and their support has ranged from the passable to the laughable - I'm not entirely sure how updating Vaio care was supposed to resolve an issue with my graphics card.
When I do run the video hardware diagnostics in vaio care, test 1 fails.
I've updated drivers form the Sony site, including the registry patch, but still no joy. I've also tried using drivers for the SA to see if that would help but still same issue. When I uninstall the 6630m it of course thinks it is a standard vga driver. When the Vaio care test is run it flies through no issues which make me pretty certain the hardware is good.
I'm close to performing a factory reset to try one last thing to see if it is a GPU issue, and then will be sending the damn thing away.
If anyone has a similar machine, have you had any issues? If so, how did you fix it? If you have correct drivers then would appreciate being pointed to where I can get them from.
cheers
Jak

Depends on what game you're playing. Could be a driver issue 'coz the ones on the sony website are Catalyst 11.2 which is 5 months old.

Yeah I've had problems with the 6630m as well. I actually resort to playing games on "STAMINA" mode rather than "SPEED" as the computer usually has problems such as "Display Driver Stopped Working and has recovered successfully" which kills the driver and then reloads it - flickering the screen and usually getting me killed in whatever game i'm playing
