Hi, this is my first post in notebook review. I hope my English is ok. I recently bought a Sony Vaio SZ3 (T7200, 2GB RAM,100GB HDD)! After using the Sony Vaio SZ3 for some days, I almost can say it is perfect. Very fast, cool, and quiet. The battery seems not to be as good as claimed. I only get 3 hours and 45 minutes for now. I think I can get more! I notice that from 100% to 85% the battery unloads faster. I liked the keyboard, it's very confortable, but when I used it for playing games, like (PES6 PC,FIFA 2007, for example) I found what I think it's a little problem, and I would like to know if I can solve it or not. What really happened is that when I press more than 2 or 3 keys simultaneously the keyboard isn't responsive. I tried the games in my old notebook and the keyboard went ok, so I think that's a problem of SZ3's keyboard. I hope this is a driver problem, or something in the software on the notebook and not a hardware problem. I would be very pleased to know if you can help me, cause that's the only thing avoiding me to say that SZ3 is the perfect notebook.
Thank you at all

Hi,
I have the same prob as TJKITTLE. I just bought a Vaio SZ61 (T7500 (2.2), 2gb ram, 160gb HDD, nvidia 8400 grafic card) running on Vista and I installed PES6 and noticed the game was not responting to some of the commands. I then went to settings and tried to change some of the game keys but it didn't solve the problem.
The problem is the computer won't recognize once I press more than 3 keys at the same time (eg up and right keys to run diagonals and 'E' to run faster or 'D' to kick). the computer will only assume the 1st two keys pressed and ignore any other keys pressed since until I release one of those keys.
Is there a way to correct this? tj did you solve your problem?
Thanks in advance for the help. -
hi tklittle, did your notebook is a sony vaio SZ3XP/C?
you have exactly the same specs of my notebook -
It's... not really a matter of having the same specs or not.
Regardless, if that's XP, try pushing shift 5 times in a row really quickly, and it'll enable sticky-keys. After opening sticky-keys, go to properties, and uncheck the box that says use shortcuts to enable. After that, you shouldn't have any problems.
Sticky keys is just something that windows has to prevent people from accidentally pushing 2 keys at the same time, but it's easily disabled so it's fine. -
I did an experience in note pad just to make sure it was not a problem with the specific application (PES6), so when I press UP+RIGHT arrows and press 'A' it will write 'a' in the note pad. same with 's' but it won't write 'D'
If I press DOWN+RIGHT it won't write'a, s, d, c (among others) but it will write 'z' 'x'. really weird!!
I've read in another forum that this might be due to an error building the keyboard matrix but I'm surprised Sony would have that on its expensive and highly acclaimed laptops. Specially since the problem seems to come from SZ3 series I would expect it to be corrected by now.
Can it be a driver problem? I would really appreciat your help on this!!
Thanks! -
Most likely it's a driver problem, or else tons of people with SZ's would be complaining by now.
Try reinstalling the driver. -
Actually it might be a hardware problem. Somewhere there was thread mentioning that pressing multiple keys at the same time (like games require) overflows the hardware interrupt buffer and means loss of signal keyboard commands. Don`t quote me on this its off the top of my head, but i think this is what is happening.
This has been with some types of keyboard for ages that i can remember. Best suggestion is to buy a USB gamepad. Not only that but you can avoid getting that nasty RSI (Repetitive strain injury) medical problem. Don`t even try playing fighting games with a keyboard! -
Thanks Helldemon and bunbuns.
I tried reinstaling the drivers but it didn't fix it. Bunbuns I'm reluctant to believe you're right, if it's true then it's a major flaw and I might consider asking Sony to fix it as it's still on the warranty.
I would like to try and install a different driver. My current keyboard driver is 6.0.6000.16609 does anyone has a differnet version that I can try?
Many thanks for your help!!
Edit
I've also checked other threads in this forum and the problem is not as uncomom as it seems. Some with vaio SZ laptops http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=158204
others with acer and Assus http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=172763
I just couldn't find an answer in any of those threads. Did people gave up? if found a solution please share with the rest of us!!
Thanks
