How is the VAIO Bluetooth Laser Mouse VGP-BMS33/B?
Maybe I will look at the Logitech VX Nano...

Also I am still looking for a good 13" laptop case for my SZ680.
I think I am leaning to the messanger form factor but want it slim like computer.

Oh and what do you people think of the Extended battery? I have one on my computer and haven't decided if I like it or not.
I will appreciate the power but the added bulk is kinda annoying.
There is another up side to it though as it feels good to grab on to it while you are carrying the laptop around.

    Oh the decisions!! ;)

My bluetooth mouse is coming in 2 or 3 days. I can post or PM you my thoughts on it. I picked it because it does not require an USB connector and looks small.. very small. Logitech VX nano sure looks nice.. especially with the USB connector that small. but the mouse still seems to be too fat to fit in a slim laptop brief.

    as for case:
for hand carrying: I use the SZ case from sony http://tinyurl.com/35366n
for carrying on shoulder.. I use
    Neoprene Carrying Case http://tinyurl.com/2pyqox +
Tumi Generation 4 Deluxe Computer Portfolio Brief http://tinyurl.com/36c4ba
think about getting a backpack for laptop.

for the battery... I am pretty happy with the 6 cell... I would just buy another battery if I need extra power, but prob not... after all... Sony batteries does lose power after you charge it up to 100%, disconnect it from laptop, and simply leave it on the table.

looking for a laptop Travel Surge Suppressor / mobile surge protector atm..
belkin and APC offers lifetime warranty.

there are a lot of things you can get... like USB port / firewire / video out protection covers. I got the privacy filter for a protection purpose... people like to stick in their fingers there they don't belong..

I ended up getting the Logitech VX Nano.
    I love it.
    feels great and very ergonomic.
    The transmitter is very small.
I ended up customizing the back/fwd buttons to the volume up/down... that is awesome as I don't have to hunt for the FN key combo anymore and the other button opens up the Browser.

As for a case I went to Best Buy and found a 13" case designed for the Macbook from a company called InCase.
    Great case, and very protective.
Only downside is it fits comfortable w/o any accessories in bag but I will just carry those aside of case because I like the case so much and it is so light with just the system in it.

I am a little confused here. I study in UK, so I've checked local sonystyle for SZ6.
Here's the link to the search results

One thing is, the name don't match. Instead of 670, 680 etc you get 60, 61 and 62. What's more, the last three laptops on the page look a lot like SZ4.

Can anyone please explain this to me? Sorry if this have already been discussed here.

    Thanks in advance.

Ah good to hear you like the Nano, i have been eye'ing it. Also, Can you comment on your SZ's temps vs your CR? I have had some laptime with a Cr and am wondering if the SZ is hotter or cooler.

Yes the AC adapter is 100-240v. If you ordered it from the US you'll need a plug adapter.

I'm in Singapore too and my SZ680 will be arriving in a week. :)

Too bad there is no customizable option though(

So is there any definite answer regarding the 680's dedicated ram? 64 or 128? Has anyone found out?

I'm pretty sure the consensus is that it's 64MB of dedicated RAM onboard, but there are conflicting numbers all over the place on the web, so it's best to get the info directly from someone who has it in front of them...

If we don't find out before then my SZ680 should be here early next week and I'll fill everyone else in on what I've got onboard.

It is 64 like previously stated. The Sony rep. told me it was 128 and the sony.com told me a whole mess of crappy numbers.

But when you get your machine and pull up the nvidia properties: 64 clear as day.

On the other hand, the graphic card is already crappy and you wont get much better gaming from the 128 compared to the 64.

Well this is it. Returning mine. I have the vertical yellow banding on the LCD, fingerprint reader that arrived DOA, and now the DVD drive no longer works. I really wanted to keep it. I love the thing. It's the perfect size, and the screen is awesome other than the discoloration. I wish I could have one that works, but I don't think Sony is delivering that product to many people. I don't trust them anymore so back it goes.

    I have question:
on the sony website they stated that "Graphics System lets you set your graphics performance. A simple hardware switch enables you to toggle between an internal Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 for optimal power consumption with excellent performance and an external NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS GPU for even more robust performance."

how can you swich from Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X31100 to NVIDIA GeForce 8400?

There is a hardware switch on the SZ; you can switch between Speed mode (the GeForce 8400) or Stamina mode (GMA X3100). It requires a restart.

Like the website said, there is a hardware switch that lets you toggle between integrated and discrete graphic options. The switch is located above the keyboard and can only be switched when the unit is turned off.

To be clear, you can toggle the switch while the unit is on (unless something has changed in more recent SZ's); it just requires a reboot for the switch to take effect.

Just above the keyboard there is a simple on/off switch that has stamina/speed labels instead. So by sliding the switch to the left before boot and fire up you are running on the X3100 and by sliding it to the right before boot you end up with the 8400. Means you cant switch between them without a boot. On the other hand you can switch it from say speed to stamina even though you have power on but nothing changes before you reboot. The switch is visible when you open up the screen. You can easily get the picture you need to do smth inside the comp but that is not the case. It's easily accessible, just like any keyboard button for example.Hope this helps.

EDIT: Hmm note to self, refresh page before answering :D

Make sure you're moving your finger slowly, from the bend to the tip...... if you move too fast it will have trouble picking it up.

Dont worry about the training thing. I noticed the training to be REALLY picky. For example when booting up I haven't failed a scan once, eve though I still can't make all 4 trainings in 1 go. It helps me if I start from about 1.5cm from the fingertip and when I come to the fingertip I slightly bend the finger downwards(hand upwards) so I get the whole "vertical" bit of the finger too. I just read my post and I hope it makes any sence :D

Hmm thats weird. I can make it with all fingers. Well as long as it accepts one print and you scan the same way every time there should be no problems. If you cant stand scanning your thumb it's just to scan your index finger many times until it takes one and test if you can "match it up".
