Just found out from the local Sony Style store here in Denver that they'll be getting delivery of two different Vaio TZ models tomorrow (Aug 3). These are the TZ150 and TZ 170 models. Unfortunately, the top-of-the line VGN-TZ191N/XC model won't be avaialbe at any Sony Style stores any time soon. Can't wait to see the TZ beauties in real-life.... finally!

Cool, I stopped in a Sony Style store in Washington DC while I was there on a trip this past weekend and they didn't have any. I heard sometime this week for them being in most stores around the country, might try and checkout a store this weekend. Very curious to try one out also.

Andrew if you were in DC you should have dropped by my house to take a look at my TZ90. :D When you get a chance to check one out you'll be impressed.

In Canada, the TZ is on display at most Sony stores since today. I dropped by and checked it out already in Toronto.

These TZs have been on display at SonyStyle Australia for weeks now. Yes, out of all places, Australia.

    Hmmm...

We generally get the same models that Hong Kong does, DTX, which is why we see them faster.

In Europe (Germany) since end of June... but the European versions TZ11 and TZ12 are far more expensive than the Japanese version TZ90 (up to 1200 Euro = 1640 US-$ price difference).

Take a look at SonyStyle USA: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...Id=8198552921644507782&parentCategoryId=16154

After seeing this thread this morning, I went to the Sony flagship store in Manhattan and sure enough just like haragr said they got the 150N and 170N just this morning. The useless employees had no idea about the SSD models. Prices weren't displayed yet, but I assume it's same as on SonyStyle.com. They do have them in stock. I even saw a guy buy one while I was there.

Played with them for a bit and my impression was a little disappointing. They feel pretty sluggish (hope that's just the 4200RPM HDD and U7500 proc in these low-end models.) I couldn't detect any performance difference between the 1GB 150N and the 2GB 170N, but then all I did was futz around in Vista a bit.

For anyone who cares, the 100GB drives in them are partitioned 85GB/15GB and the 85GB OS partition has 62GB free space after the 23GB(!!!) of Sony crapware and OS. I thought of taking some pix but I realized I definitely couldn't have done better than what is already floating around here.

Good to see that the TZ finally showed up over here.

I'm sure they were sluggish due to the slow HDD and bloatware. Mine is anything but slow. :D

Went into Datavision in Manhattan ( http://www.datavis.com/cgi-bin/category.exe?merfnbr=2000&cgrfnbr=1723) this morning and besides having the new SZ650 on demo/display, the salespeople told me they know they are getting the TZ150N, 170N, and...wait for it...the 190N on Wednesday, Aug. 8. I'll be out of town this week, but I may stop back and have a look the following week after I get back. If anyone has anything they want to know about this first USA market SSD TZ model, post questions here and I'll try and get you answers then.

You need to have an SSD to really appreciate this machine, it ranks right up there with the fastest laptops. That 4200rpm drive and 1.0Ghz chip are not recommended for anyone who hates Vista's sluggish performance.
