I have a SONY VAIO VGN-NW21EF with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed.
On boot up, when it comes in desktop, and before background and icons are displayed, I get a blue screen error with code:
DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000000000000010, 0x0000000000000002,0x0000000000000000,0xFFFFF880016345D6)
And it mentions that something is wrong with a file named dndis.sys.
Also, in event files it gives Event ID:7001
I have searched with Google and found that maybe something is wrong with ethernet card driver.
I have checked the following:
RAM:checked the two modules with memtest for 3 hours:no errors found
HDD:checked WD SATA 320GB drive with WD's own utility (both quick and extended test):no errors found
Run laptop with only one RAM module per time and with each module in each slot (4 combinations):the same BSOD came up.
Something has indeed to do with the ethernet driver and not ethernet card as hardware. And how did I come to this conclusion? Made the following...
Started windows in simple safe mode:windows loads normally and can get in the O/S.
Tried to start windows in safe mode with networking: the same BSOD.
So, up to here I thought that I have ethernet problem as h/w or ethernet driver problem.
The driver was installed was 2009's. I downloaded latest driver for
Marvell Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller and installed it:the same BSOD.
So, just to make sure the ethernet card is ok I boot up with linux ubuntu 13.04 cd and tested cable internet:everything works perfect. So this proves that the lan card is ok.
Now, maybe a virus or something else has made a serious damage to my win. Or maybe somewhere else there is a problem. I have tried a lot but cannot make windows work again. Has anybody face up such a problem in a Vaio to give me some help?
Thank you for your time !!

Start windows in safe mode without network card.
Then remove network card driver. If you see an option to delete its software, check it.
The restart windows.
That 's the easiest way to fix your laptop issue.
If you have virus infected, then more work to do to clean. The worst case is reinstall windows.
