    Hello all,

Just wanted to share how to enable VT / VMI flag in the BIOS for a SONY VGN CR390.

    My current bios is: R2101Q0

The symbol to change in the BIOS is 0x5BB (it needs to be set to 1).

You can follow the instructions at the following site with respect to extracting the CMOS symbols and updating them with the symcmos.exe command for Pheonix Bioses (you'll have to go to the first thread as this points to the message that talks about my specific bios).

    http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/topic9326.html?highlight=r2101q0

Note that the changes I made were exclusively in DOS. As I was unable to find quickly how to create a full FreeDos bootable CD, I basically created a new fat32 partitionon my pc, installed FreeDos on it, rebooted with the live CD and used the commands in the new partition in order to edit the CMOS symbol file.

Currently the laptop has VMI/VT enabled as long as I don't reload another bios.

Hope you all find this helpful.

hello domin I also wanted to enable Intel-VT feature in my notebook, same model as yours (VGN-CR390/R2101Q0). I have set 0x5BB register to 0001, but when I restart, it returns to default 0000. I have used Hiren's Boot CD 9.3, DOS, ...

What is wrong? Please help me to enable VT.

    symcmos -v2 -lDefault.txt
    symcmos - v2 -uMofied.txt

    Ulukbek

Do you know if this works for the FW290 as well?
