It looks like clip from the side...
    Še•”–¼ÌE¡–@ | PƒVƒŠ[ƒY | »•iî•ñ | ŒÂlŒü‚¯ | VAIOƒp[ƒ\ƒiƒ‹ƒRƒ“ƒsƒ…[ƒ^[ | ƒ\ƒj[

    Hardware is not change much
    ƒXƒyƒbƒN | PƒVƒŠ[ƒY | »•iî•ñ | ŒÂlŒü‚¯ | VAIOƒp[ƒ\ƒiƒ‹ƒRƒ“ƒsƒ…[ƒ^[ | ƒ\ƒj[

    But adding some nice changes,
Power button move above the keyboard and is not slide type now (Good, because I think slide type the paint will come off easily.)

Wireless switch move to left side.

Add digital compass (Should be useful)

    Add auto screen rotation

Add resolution change button (From 1600X768 to 1280X600)

Add ambient light sensor (Will improve a bit battery life)

Battery capacity has been enlarged from 2100mAh to 2500 mAh

Also you can choose Atom Z560(2.13GHz) & Intel SCH US15X now

Add touchpad and pick button the display, this one I think is really a good feature the P should have had before.

...and it still features the same terrible GMA 500. Though it looks nice, I'll pass on this one.

Sony introduces this morning, a new Vaio P, a completely remade from ground-up Vaio P, designed to bring way more versatility to the already sexy Vaio P. The basic model comes with an Atom Z530 (1.60GHz) or an Atom Z560 (2.13GHz) on Order made ones, with 2GB of RAM, 64GB of SSD and an Intel SCH US15W chipset offering a nice 1600×768 resolution on 8” monitor. Our new Vaio P comes with WiMax, WiFi ABGN, Bluetooth a 0.31Mpix Camera with a total weight of 619g. The new Vaio P also introduces a new touch sensitive trackpad on the right side of its monitor. To spice up things a little more, Sony will offer the Vaio P in 5 different colors as well as a “Crocodile” skin.

But the design and specs change are not the most important aspect of this new release and Sony with this new Vaio P brings the PS3 Remote play to its Vaio Line-up (The Vaio P will be the first to carry the PS3 Remote Play). If you own a PS3 with the latest firmware (3.30) you will be capable to access to your PS3 contents and even recorded TV programs from the comfort of your Vaio P. The new Vaio P also brings something quite new over at SONY, with the usage of an accelerometer that will tilt your screen accordingly and will further enhanced its GPS function, or to even let you jump from one picture to another in a sideshow via a simple tilt.

I agree. I think the nextgen with better graphics would be more useful. Such a high res screen with such a poor GPU is a little waste, thou I am sure the new 2.13ghz processor will help out a little.

If you see the new P from a side...you have the answer on the new "paperclip" design, mentioned a few days back ;)

So a minor refresh. I think a number of people would have liked this model to have had a touchscreen.

Me for one, but I'll take a mini-touchpad.

How bad is the Atom on this thing in comparision to e.g. a Core 2 Solo or a CULV, assuming I go for the flagship?

What a dissapointment! Why no Z6xx and GMA 600? Still Menlow? Touchscreen would very usefull in this device. Shame that battery life didn't improve as well...what is the point having the P, if the standard battery last 3 hrs? I quite prefer the old version.

maybe they have too many mobos and cpus left from old P and they want to get rid of stock, before upgrading to new mobos...that is why they released this as a "new model" not as a P upgrade...who knows..

Moorestown platform has no support for SATA, keyboard. It's target for cell-phones.

I might get one of these in July duty free at the airport depending on the cost.

I'll probably get the green one and then upgrade the HD myself to an SSD.
I would have liked it if had the 2.13 processor but they don't tend to offer anything other the standard black models with the top spec.

Passmarks and these always are not dead on accurate.

    Intel Atom N270 @ 1.60GHz 305 791
    Intel Atom N280 @ 1.66GHz 314 782
    Intel Atom N450 @ 1.66GHz 320 773
    Intel Atom Z510 @ 1.10GHz 163 903
    Intel Atom Z520 @ 1.33GHz 250 848
    Intel Atom Z530 @ 1.60GHz 298 798
    Intel Atom Z540 @ 1.86GHz 331 756
    Intel Atom Z550 @ 2.00GHz 384 707

The 2.13 model should be able to pull in over 400 passmark points.

    Intel Core2 Solo U2100 @ 1.06GHz 323 767
    Intel Core2 Solo U2200 @ 1.20GHz 311 787
    Intel Core2 Solo U3500 @ 1.40GHz 502 592

With my 1.33 core solo TX i owned i was getting around 395 on the CPU passmark score.

These are only benchmarks though and in real life usage the older core solo models have performed better than the likes of the N270. May be with these higher end processors like the 2.13 the difference has been caught up now.

In terms of multimedia experience the GMA 500 doesn't seem to have reached its full potential. With newer flash drivers it seems to improving though slowly.

I thnk that for just occasional web use that it should be ok.

The new P has no HDD option...or you meant the old P in (darker) green?

    Thanks.

So for 770g, assuming Joanna Stern of the engadget crew as usual has no clue where to find the Power icon due to their Mac addiction, I have a potential 9-hour+ machine in ekeing conditions?

And with the Z9E I will probably be somewhere around a Core 2 Solo 1.33 (OK so this is hardly state of the art given I had this on the UX490 years ago, but at least I know it runs Vista sorta-OK, so Win7 should hopefully be just as viable especially with 2 gigs) ?

If so, I might be sold.

This is looking good, old P had solid performance with SSD, so it is not looking bad for this model, as long as the price will be around 800 price range.
