I have a Sony SZ series laptop. I recently reloaded, through clean re-install the original SOny software from the recovery discs.

Problem is the SOny takes a few minutes to close from the time the shutdown button is pressed. Any suggestions? I 've used CC cleaner and TuneXP to no avail

If you have a SZ650 or some other SZ doted with a hybrid HDD then that is the source of that slow shutdown...
However I own a SZ650 and experience these "slow shutdowns" only after a Windows Update or a major system change, I think that cached files are beeing updated or something during this time...

That would explain why when I replaced my Hybrid HDD with a standard drive my bootups and shut down is much faster. It is also a Hitachi 7200rpm 16mb cache drive.
