Are all of these SQL Server stuff needed by anything important (any of the Sony utilities, etc.)?

Is it safe to uninstall all of the SQL Server stuff?

Maybe you should just turn it off by going into "Services" and changing the startup from "Automatic" to "Manual" or "Disabled" that way if you have problems you can just turn it back to "automatic"

I'm not sure why you would want to uninstall it though but I have a couple of programs that actually use it and it looks like Sony uses it for something (VAIO_VEDB) buy I'm not sure what that is.

Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system (RDBMS).

The program is commonly used by businesses for small/medium databases, basically, it takes data from a place, and stores/sends it to somewhere else, at least thats what i know...

SQL Server is also used by very large DBs (last SQL database I worked on was about 1TB). SQL is what I do for a living.

What we're talking about here is most likely MSDE or SQL Express/CE - a desktop version. I'm not sure what Sony is storing in it, but if you do a clean install, you don't get it.

I noticed that, it gets installed as part of Vaio Media Server or something like that. I uninstalled it and haven't noticed anything missing but then again I'm not sure what it did in the first place.
