I've actually been wondering the same thing. I noticed ATI actually provided up-to-date drivers for their mobility cards for Windows 7. Unfortunately, even though I am planning on replacing Vista on my FW with 7, I won't do so until the final retail version of 7 comes out.

However, I'm really curious if someone who does have 7 on their Vaio could shed some light on these drivers and if they do in fact work.

The drivers that were downloaded automatically by Windows 7 on the initial setup work great for me. I've never experienced a crash and I use external monitors frequently. The driver's listed as "ATI Mobility Radeon 3400 Series (Prerelease - WDDM 1.1)." Did you do an upgrade from Vista--is that why you've retained the Vista drivers?

I think that if you just allow Device Manager to search the internet for drivers for the video card, it should recommend the pre-release driver, since that was what Windows 7 installed on a fresh install. I don't know much about drivers, though; that's just my two cents.

The thing is, some people (like me) like having the newest software or in this case, the newest drivers and I wanted to know if the newest drivers for 7 on the ATI website for mobility cards actually work on the Sony laptops.

Mobility Modder doesn't work anymore on the newer Catalyst versions. I'm actually stuck with 9.1 in Vista.
