So I told my dad that I had decided I wanted to get a SR, and before I bought it from SonyStyle, he was going to look around and try and see if there were some places with better prices. He told me that one of the retailers/resellers he spoke to said that the SR was being discontinued. Have you heard of this???

it's a new model, perhaps he was thinking of the first SR's shipped out, the non centrino2 models.

LOL! I highly doubt that. If they are then there's something wrong with it and I'm returning me ASAP.

Don't forget alot of those sales reps at retail stores don't know ****. I asked a couple at best buy "do you have any of the new sony vaio laptops in?" they said "what's a vaio?" and these guys are in the computer department... Also he attempted to look it up in the computer and for vaio he typed "Veio" or something and said "Nope not here."

Lesson: don't believe these high school sales men.

these sales reps hardly know anything and I hate when they just lie to people (specially who have no idea). They just dont have the particular product and they come up with any story to sell what they have...

as others have told you.. SR is going to live till sony announces its successor.. the CR and SZ are might be discontinued.. discontinuing SZ would be very sad though !!..

The SZ is starting a strange existance.
Last I chekced, Germany sold the SZ7 with 4 years warranty (time limited offer) and the UK sold only the SZ6.
That may have changed by now...
