    Hey,

I've decided to buy a new SR for my girlfriend.
I've seen VGNSR190NDB here, but i've saw here that there is new model the SR2, or something about CTO.

Can you please help me here ? should i take this deal ?
The new SR2, looks exactly the same design as the 190 ?
Can i found a SR2 on the at price of 1400$ max ?

    Thanks!

I've managed to build at SR290 at sony.com

but i had to get P8400.
    but i've added 3G ram, 3470 with HDMI and 250GB 7200rmp

The 3470 will decrease the battery time dramatically ?
    the 290 with P8400, 3G, 250GB 7200 should be better
    then 190 with P8600, 2G, 320GB 5400 ?

and what is the CTO few mantioned ?

3470 gets 3:30 hours battery life max, X4500 gets 4:45.

For average use the P8400/7200rpm option will be faster.

Yes. X4500 has better battery life and stays a bit cooler.

Or get the cheapest HD option from Sony and upgrade yourself.

    CTO = Configure-To-Order

The SR2 series is physically identical to the SR1 series exceptthe SR2 has the HDMI option. The SR2 also has the titanium grey finish option.

If you're willing to spend $1400, you might as well consider
the Z-series. The cheapest Z-series is $1325 at PCNATION.

    I'm aware of that.
but since i'm sending it oversea it makes about 140$ between them.
and to be honest, i dont find so much advantage at the Z series.
    i get the SR with 3G, 250 HD 7200 in 150$ less then a Z with 2G and 160 5400. you think it worth it ?

btw, what HDD there is in the SR, WD ? Seagate ?

whats the point of having so much storage space? i say 7200rpm is more important. u can always get more space later.

    Thanks, i've used that coupone.
i've decided i dont need the Z since its more expensive overall.
and i do need storage since i'll watch HD movies often.

I'm thinking about replaceing the HDD here since i'll have warrenty, i saw Seagate ST9320421AS here, it will cost the same as having it in the SR, but i'll have warrenty and extra 160GB (that will be replaced.)

what do you think ? what hdd brand is coming with the SR?

For $140, I think it's worth it. The Z is 3.4 pounds versus 4.2 for the SR. That's quite a difference. Also, the Z has a better display (RGB led's vs. white led's and better color saturation??) and a non-glossy screen. The only drawback with the Z for me... is the fan is not as quiet as the SR. Also, I find the Z a bit awkward looking.
