I think I figured out something. I had this problem where one day, after rebooting my SR, I got two pop-up windows that said "Windows cannot find the target". I did a search on this discussion board and found only 3 entries about it buried in pages after pages ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4382001)

So anyway, what happened was, I started to drag icons into the "Mode" Shortcuts section to replace some icons (program shortcuts) I don't need. I dragged Google Chrome. After rebooting, that's when I got the message "Windows cannot find the target". It's annoying. I went to the VAIO Control Center to reset the buttons. After reboot, the pop-up "...can't find target" didn't show up. Good! I put Chrome back in the shortcut, rebooted, then the message popped up again. Bad. There's something about Google Chrome.

Anyway, the workaround or solution is to remove Google Chrome or any other program shortcuts with the same properties that result in "Windows cannot find the target".

Hope this helps. Love my SR!

Hi, I had this problem too, but now I have fixed it. Take Google Chrome for instance:

In order to make this a shortcut button, you may take two approaches: 1) dragging from the icon for Google Chrome to the shortcut button you wish to attach it to, or 2) using the VAIO Control Center. I think both will work, and the problem with the "Windows cannot find the target" dialog has to do with the location of where you dragged the icon from in the first case or where the path is set to in the second case.

Specifically, I navigated directly to Google Chrome in the Programs menu using Windows Explorer. Then, what I did was drag directly from there onto the startup button. This is all it took; before I had dragged from the icon that was a desktop shortcut, then I deleted the desktop shortcut, and that is what Windows could not find as the target.

    Hope this helps.
