The left button of my touchpad does not work anymore! If someone has encountered a problem like this and has come up with a solution please help me! Any help is actually very appreciated, it has stopped working permanently!![]()
Forgot to mention that the laptop I have is a VAIO SR and that I have tried a few things already to see if it would solve the problem, but no luck. Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, switched from right-handed to left-handed, uninstall and let windows choose the driver, etc...
So, if anyone out there has any clue as to what the problem may be, please tell me. In the meanwhile, I'm going to be doing a lot of googling. I actually think it may be a hardware problem and that I will have to send it in to Sony to fix, but it wouldn't hurt to see if anyone has any other suggestions.

Interesting. My left button on my touchpad stopped working yesterday. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, switched from right-handed to left-handed, etc. and it still does not work.
Have you figured yours out yet? -
Not yet, haven't really had the time to do much. Although, I'm starting to think it's actually just a hardware problem, that the cable or whatever is connecting the left button is disconnected or messed up. I'll try to see if I could do a few other things when I have the time. While that's happening, any suggestions from anyone???
Also, when you try to move your mouse, does it always select all or move things randomly whenever you hover over icons or links? -
stuck with the same issue on a FW.
it seems that when i left click, the touchpad registers as if both (left and right) buttons were pressed at the same time. found this out by setting the response to a left or right click to "none" and the both buttons option to "shortcut menu"...
tried to reinstall the Sony ALPS drivers, which seemed to work for other users, but to no avail.
same results when i tried to install synaptics drivers.
you might have a look at this site... http://doube.org/sztp.html#top
please let me know if you find a solution! -
To check whether this is a hardware problem, try to boot from a cd that can use a mouse. I would suggest Hitachi Drive Fitness Test http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT . You don't actually have to use the program. Just test if the mouse works when you boot from the CD. If it doesn't, then it is definitely a hardware problem. If it does, something else is wrong.

Thanks for the advice.
Tried the link, but somehow the iso wouldnt work on my machine.
So i tried with a Win7 iso and the buttons had the same behaviour... the outlook is not too bright.
as a workaround, i set the mouse to do a "right click" when is registers that both buttons are pressed... so now any button is a right click and use tap as a left click.
