First, I know they aren't quite the same.. but both could work for me.

If the CS configures at similar pricing as the CR, then I would spend a bit more for an SR... but saving a pound and a half... I may like that!

Also, does the SR have a loose battery issue? How about battery drain?

I guess I am looking for a couple of things... comments from SR owners (some of which I have read here) and general comments from anyone who has pre-ordered or been one of the first to receive a new model from Sony. How has quality, etc been? Should I feel confident if I am an early purchaser of the new CS??

    Thanks
    Tony

The SR is great... it is a much sleeker machine than the CS. But, depending on what your doing, the CS may be cheaper.... For 1000 you can get a CS with a bluray player, 3gb of Ram, and a p8400 proccesor, and a 4500HD integrated GPU. This set up is more than powerful enough to play old or undemanding games(like Quake 4 and Doom 3, UT 2004, Spore, etc.) Surf the web and watch movies. It's SMALL ENOUGH to carry around...but it's weight is around average for a laptop at 5.4ish lbs. Meanwhile the SR is very easy to carry around at 4.14(or something) pounds.

The SR is much lighter, thinner, and stylish(IMHO), and has a discrete graphics card for more demanding games(but still not Crysis level gaming). You can see the first page of the SR ATI 3470 Gaming Thread to see what kind of games the SR will play. The SR has a better screen(LED) and is more travel friendly.

The SR does NOT have a loose battery issue. The way the battery is inserted makes it very secure, it is virtually impossible for it to come out...unless you press the release button and then "unscrew or wedge" it out.

The battery drain issue...is not experienced by all and varies from person to person. For your average student/traveler/etc. who travels during the day and plugs in at night, you wont notice it...
It will be noticeable for someone constantly on the road...if in fact yours has the drain issue...mine is relatively new(i received it 3+ weeks ago) and has no drain issue.

Just remember the SR is a higher level laptop so it will have more premium materials, parts, etc. BUT, the CS is very nice and perhaps a better bang-for-the-buck for most non-gamers....
