Yes, considered it, but I can't tell if they're 2nd or 3rd gen, also don't fancy a 3 week wait, and I think if my solution works it could be cheaper, if I get a second hand ssd.
Wouldn't work at raid0, of course.

Update: My plan didn't work out. The VAIO ribbon cable didn't fit the adapter, and there probably wouldn't have been enough space in there either.

Looking at your sig you have VPC-Z1, but you're bought above model which I believe is for Z2? I'm trying to clarify because I plan to upgrade SVZ13 and looking for the correct part to order.

I have a Z22 (see sig) that is in primo working order but my son managed in one clumsy move to crack both the lid and the left side bezel and I had been planning to sell it and now think I might do better parting it out. It has a SATA III 256GB SSD (900 Mb/s Seq. Read - 500 Mb/s Seq. Write). I saw you balk at $500, but would you care to make me an offer for my SSD?

I guess the only other parts of value would be the FHD screen (but they have gotten pretty cheap lately - like $150) and the MoBo. I don't think the RAM is of any use unless you're handy with a soldering iron; can anyone confirm that?

Maybe the best deal is to the person who would pay me $600 for the whole kit and kaboodle, to use as an awesome spare that looks a little shabby, or to use some of the parts, sell the rest. I had to tape up the left edge of the lid where the crack occurred and, for stability I wound the same ugly tape around to cover the left side of the bezel where the crack is, but it otherwise looks perfect and it screams with performance like the day it was new. I would be willing to give a refund if it is not how I describe.

Ideas? Feel free to PM me, naujoks, or anyone else with interest in all or part.

Yes I have the MZRPA512HMFU because I got the part number from a sony vpc z14 service manual, only the japanese model had this ssd I think. You will need a special fpc cable , fpc 138

    Lovelaptops,

Do you still have this used unit available? (I'd PM you, but I'm have trouble finding that button.) My motherboard failed. If I can move my SSD to your unit, I might be able to get the data off. Please get in touch. Thanks.
