    Hey,

    Does anyone know what kind of SSD drive Sony ships with their SR and Z series laptops? I've been doing some research on SSD drives and it seems like a bunch of them slow down considerably after prolonged use (albeit still faster than HDD). Seems like the only SSD drive that is free of this problem is Intel's X25-M drive.

    from what i understand, sony uses samsung ssds as per here:

    http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/products/flash/ssd/2008/where/usa.html

    I am much more interested in finding out what SSDs are used in the SR though. I do not think anyone has actually taken apart their Z yet and posted the samsung ssd models used.

    I think i'll just wait a bit for more confirmation of trim support/ or some inherent controller support that addresses performance degradation

    I thought I read somewhere that the Z uses 2.5inch SSD's. Am I wrong?

    I have a new Z590 with a single 128GB SSD. Is it 2.5inch or 1.8inch?

    SSD = 1.8"
    2.5" = HDD

    I thought SSD's come in 2 sizes, 2.5inch and 1.8inch, just like regular hard drives.

    I just would like to know what size hard drive the Sony Z accepts, 1.8inch (with or without adapter) or 2.5inch.

    Thanks

    You can put a standard 2.5" SSD without the special cable.

    If you want Raid you need special cable and 2X 1.8"

    :)

    The X25-M drives also exhibit slowdown.
