Hi all,
I'm looking into getting an SSD for my Vaio (VGN SR-490) but I don't know which models I should be looking at. A ~120 gb SSD is what I'm looking for since they're within my price range.
Also other than backing up my files, anyting else I need to prep when installing the ssd?
Edit: I'm on Win7 by the way if that helps.
Thanks!

You want something with TRIM support, Windows 7 can use that.

Awesome thank! Just looked into what that is.
I'm currently looking at the OCZ Vertex 3 Sata III (in case I want to throw it into my desktop which does support Sata III) or the Crucial RealSSD C300.
Any thoughts on these 2 options or any other recommendations?
Thanks again! -

Try the SSD thread for more suggestions: Solid State Drives (SSDs) and Flash Storage I think once the TRIM/GC issue is considered, the 4K read/write becomes the next metric...

Something as old as VGN SR-490 definitely won't support SATA3, so I would hold off on that Vertex 3 purchase and just go for the older Vertex 2 instead.
I have one in my VPC Z11 and it's blazing fast.
Can't wait for the Z2 SSD.
SSD recommendations for my Vaio pls!
