Recently I noticed first one then a second 64 GB Samsung flash module failing, out of the four there are.

The first being broken I could still startup due to the RAID, after the 2nd one failing, I can't.
Luckily all my data is backed up, so that's not my concern.

I'd like to keep my Sony around though, especially as there doesn't seem to be any way that I could obtain e.g. a new or refurbished SVZ13 laptop at this point in time? (2016)

I've found this useful video on YouTube now. I'm stubborn though and don't want to buy a new cable.
(For the price of 49 EUR incl. S&H, Sony COMPL PWB FPC-217 (SSD_TOS), Article no.: A1781464A)

As such, first I determined that there are indeed direct adapters from mSATA to LIF or ZIF ( examples), assuming that I can reuse at least the original (and working) Sony cable. There are two issues though:

1st question: What is the small top connector that I photographed?

I unfortunately wasn't able to pry out the whole SSD (and the YT video doesn't show it in detail either), so I'm not sure what the purpose of the rest of the cables is, i. e. which one the actual connector is. As this could mean that I might not need a LIF/ZIF adapter, but another one?

2ndly: Here is the adapter to the mainboard, which according to the www seems to be a "ZIF" connector which is connected to a LIF cable? So that means I'd actually need a "LIF to mSATA" adapter for my new SSD?

(Alternative Photo of the adapter with flash.)

I hope someone could give me some insights into which mSATA adapter to buy.

    Thank you in advance!

There are multiple threads in here on how to change the cable to mSATA so you can use the plentiful mSATA SSDs that are currently available.
