TT not made it's way to the UK yet and cpu already out of date, seems folks will have to put up with the SU9400, give it 4-6 months and we will see the TZ series 2 with the SU9600, seems no point investing in a TT now, I reckon the SU9400 will clock in at 1.6GHZ..., or they can ditch the optical drive and put in a 1.86GHZ low voltage cpu..., wish they had that option.., ditch the optical drive and go for a 1.86GHZ C2D and Nvidia 9400M...

    Intel's 1.6GHz SU9600 ULV isn't due out until the 2nd quarter of 2009 according to this timeline ( PDF LINK). So the 1.4GHz SU9400 won't be out-of-date for another 6 to 8 months =)

The Apple MacBook Air basically use those components the 1.86 processor and the MBA averages about 4- 4 hours 30 mins with wifi usage. The MBA battery is 37wh but the battery is a 5200mAh standard battery.
The TT i think uses a 5400mAh standard battery and battery life is clearly much better because of the low power components.

You don't seem to value the benefits of Ultra low voltage CPU's.

My advice to you: get a Z or a Macbook Air.

However, most people don't really need more than C2D 1.4Ghz. They just believe they do.

I am not most people, while the 1.2GHZ C2D is good enough for internet browsing and photo editing, when it comes to HD Playback I need at least a 1.4GHZ, 1.6GHZ would be ideal, also the GMA 950 does not help with video decoding as it only handles mpeg 2

The new Macbook Air uses a LV CPU, 1.86GHZ/6MB/1066MHZ FSB, as well as having Nvidia 9400M Graphics, puts the technology in the TZ to shame, even if they strip out the Optical Drive form the TZ I doubt they could get that all in...

I don't mind a macbook air apart from it's too wide, want it TZ size, in black with the 11.1" Screen and Express card/fingerprint/3G..

seems like an 11" notebook is out of your range...there aren't too many notebooks that small that are powerful enough for HD editing and such...

The C2D 1.4Ghz with Intel X4500 will play 1080p just fine.

I'll bet even the 1.2Ghz with x4500 will have no problems.

X4500 offloads the HD decoding from the CPU.

You seem to miss the point of the Ultralow voltage platform. It's meant for ultra portability.

Sony TZ can get upto 7-8 hours on a standard battery, while the MBA has a hard time getting to 4. (I've owned both)

The Macbook Air does not have the option for WAN, TT/TZ does.

Consider the Vaio Z. It puts the Air to shame. It's only 140 grams more heavy than the Air, if you strip out the optical drive it will be equal weight.
