    Hi all,

First of all, I know this has probably been asked many times now so I apologise for asking again.

I've seen some of the threads (on here and elsewhere), followed the steps but I'm still not having any luck getting the Stamina/Speed switch to work on my SVS1513C5E after a fresh Windows 8.1 install. All the other drivers are installed and everything else is working (including the function keys - volume, screen brightness etc).

Please can someone give me a definitive answer as to what I need to install to get the switch working again? It's driving me mad!

    Many thanks!

Sorry, I don't have the same model, so can't be more specific. Generally, you need the graphics drivers of both GPUs to be installed and working. Then (this stuff is for my model, so do some figuring out how it applies to yours) the SONY Shared Library should be installed and the VIAO Event Services must be installed and running (this is what tells the software that the switch position has changed).

So, basically, if you follow the clean install guide for your model and OS, you should be in business. For MY MODEL, Sony recommends the following installation sequence:

    1. Windows 7
    2. Intel Chipset
    3. Nvidia Graphics
    4. Audio
    5. Ethernet
    6. MS Card
    7. SD Card
    8. Pointing Device
    9. Sony Firmware Extension
    10. Bluetooth
    11. Intel ME
    12. Intel Wireless
    13. Turbo Boost
    14. TPM (if needed)
    15. Setting Utility Series
    16. Sony Shared Library
    17. VAIO Event Services
    18. VAIO Control Center
    19. Battery Checker
    20. VAIO Location Utility
    21. VAIO Power Management
    22. VAIO Smart Network
    23. VAIO Update
    24. Protector Suite

Hope this helps you to look in the right places.

    Thanks for the response.

I'll check on the Intel and Nvidia websites for the latest GPU drivers then look at getting the Sony Shared Library and Vaio Event Services, if I haven't already installed them (my laptop isn't with me at the moment).

If it still won't work, I might try a fresh install and follow your steps.

    Cheers

DON'T follow my steps; they are not for your model. Go to the Sony support page for your model and download the drivers there. If you are using an OS that is not supported by Sony, follow the clean install guide. The drivers on the Sony support page are usually listed in the order in which they need to be installed, but that is not always the case, so if you can find a clean install guide for the SVS series, go for it.

Remember, a clean install on my model is a LOT more trouble than on yours - the graphics technology in mine has been abandoned by all players - nVIDIA, Intel and Microsoft - won't even bother moaning about Sony driver upgrades - but I am running 8.1 update 1 and everything works.

Thanks. I'll see if I can find a clean install guide for the SVS series.

    Cheers.
