ya im getting 2 weehhheee!!! joking aside, its been over a month since i ordered by tz. it was supose to come last friday now its crossing over to this week and still nothing. So he's sending me another one by fedex this time. And i actually did a hardcore cleaning of my room and prep a "king's" position to place my new Tz but its not even here.
What if the postal unit arrive b4 the fedex one? then i have to refuse that and wait over the weekend just for the fedex one? seems the higher powers are playing with my emotions.

Let me guess--you ordered from Chris on eBay? :)

You could refuse the FedEx one instead but, if I were you, I'd wait for that one. It probably won't have been thrown around as much as the USPS one... which may never arrive anyway. (I went through the same thing and the USPS unit never surfaced.)

i would feel extremely guilty, but i would keep em both :) haha, but for real, i would keep the one that arrives first, check for any problems and if there is anything wrong with it (i.e. bending light problem, altho i thinks its popular with sz series rather than tz), and if there is just wait for the other one and swap them. If you paid with CC i think they can charge you for the second one, but i might be wrong.

well i can't open them BOTH. i wish but i have to refuse one of them at the moment of delivery. now the question is, which tz is the luckier one with the littliest of defects. lol

HaHa... if its from Chris... thats the same story he spun me... that Fedex lost it... 3 months later after Fedex "failed to ship it" and "didn't attatch the waybill" (with 2 weeks between each incident and god knows how many days of waiting in limbo) it finally arrived.

Sorry to burst your bubbles. I don’t think the USPS one is ever going to show up. I got the same message from Chris.
Hi there. I just checked with my supplier and we're going to be early next week. They haven't got anything definite on the trace, so they're fedexing one to arrive tuesday before 5 to be sure we meet your deadline.
    - colpic
And of course, my package is a no show. I am only worried about how long I have to wait for my tz195, not which one I am going to pick.

Wonder how he can afford to "lose" so many laptops through the USPS? all sounds sorta fishy to me.

one month waiting is really nothing. guess how long i've been waiting? two months and a half. i have heard all sorts of excuses from Chris, custom COD tag issues, work issues, waybill issues...everything you can think of.

the latest one is that he told me he brought one back himself from the US warehouse and shipped the laptop himself. but when i asked for a tracking number, he dodged the question and, instead, made up with some other excuses. so, it looks like all the incidents happened probably never exsited. they are all just made up excuses. god knows what the hell is going on.

now i'm heading to the three months waiting lounge officially, yay...

wow and you in canada? i would probably go straight to his doorstep and confront him. If i don't receive anything on monday, ima ask for a refund and just coff up an extra few hundred and go to portableone. i am curious of why he do all the run arounds when he said he has supplier with warehouse of these things.

ya that would only make sense if he was selling over the retail price. cuz then hell be making off the differences of the sale and the retail sale price. but hes selling it way cheaper. like 500 cheaper. that leads me to think its refurbish merchandise but others said its not refurbish. so whats really going on?

Many did, me included, and he made up all kinds of excuses for me too. Laptop was "in customs" then "lost," and he finally got it to me about two weeks late.

Given this repeated pattern, there's clearly more going on under the surface than we know about, but what I don't know. He did come through, but it's odd that he would continue this business practice if it's proven to be so unreliable.

He has very good feedback on Ebay. People don't want to give negative feedback, even though the shipping takes a long time, because they don't want to receive negative feedback.

I call BS on all these USPS "lost" shipments. Once in a great while, sure, it could happen. But this many times from the *same* vendor? No.

I have shipper accounts with USPS, UPS, and FedEx. I ship USPS quite often, and they are very reliable. Typically much more so than UPS, and sometimes even better than FedEx. I've never had a USPS package lost or damaged, but have had several with UPS and a few with FedEx. The primary drawback with USPS is they are more expensive once you get over 2lbs or so. But the old stories about USPS being unreliable are entirely untrue.

    Here is my theory:
He average of the laptops he sells is about $2600. He sells about 100+ each month, so that’s $260,000 right there. Month after month, the capital accumulates. He can either collect interest, or do some investments. That’s why he tries to delay every order he is getting; so more profit could be made. This will only work if the snowball effect is big enough. This means keeping his feedback high, answering every email, making excuses. So more of us will buy from him. This is a classic case of positive feedback. This is not a one-man operation, and I think the warehouse connection is real. In the end, it’s a win-win for everybody. He gets the capital he needs; we trade our wait time for a discounted laptop. The only major drawback for us is somehow his moneymaking cycle breaks, then we will be in trouble. It’s just a theory.

I agree with you ycmnvan, Chris Colpitts seems to be short term investment trader who uses fund received through ebay to turn over profit.

I am in the UK and I purchased a TZ190 from Chris about 3 month ago...He spun the same yarn with me as he has done with all his buyers....excuses after excuses. After a month and a half of waiting he offered to upgrade me to TZ195 free of charge and to ship it by the end of the week. Again nothing....In the end I gave him an ultimatum...If it didn’t arrive by the following weekend I would like my money back. Weekend came and still nothing...Checked my email and he had refunded my full payment including shipping. He phones me the same day to justify and make more excuses...at this point I wasn’t interested anymore. He went on to offer me the TZ198 for the price of a TZ90 and he didn’t want payment for it until I had received it and was happy with it...I thought, here we go again and took it with a pinch of salt. He maintained communication with me throughout this time and beggar’s belief a Vaio TZ arrived just as he said. Unfortunately, it was a TZ195 and not a TZ198...Just a little bit disappointed. So, here I am in the UK with this TZ in my hand and my money still in my pocket!...I was quite surprised how casual Chris was with all of this...No pressing emails to see it had turned up or even for payment....No email what so ever. In the end I had to email him to inform him he had sent me the wrong TZ! He replied apologising and asked me how I would like to be compensated to keep this TZ195. He cut me an unbelievable deal on this Vaio and doubled my requested compensation...I was absolutely gob smacked!!! Before making payment, I opened the box and everything was as you would expect from a BRAND NEW packaged item.

To blow the cob web away with regards to these laptops are refurbished is NOT TRUE. Mine came BRAND NEW, unopened and FACTORY SEALED.

Put aside the slow shipping and excuses, you can see through my transaction, Chris is an honourable man and went the extra mile to make things right.

We and other Sony dealers had some TZ's stolen via credit card fraud, I will post serial numbers somewhere on the forum of the units we were swindled out of to give people the heads up; on a previous similar post we were trying to get NBR to put a stolen / lost & found section in the forums...

Chris's laptops are not stolen. They come directly from a specific authorized reseller. (I checked as mine came directly from their warehouse and they really are authorized.)

Chris Colpitts is NOT a thief. It's sad to see dealers and resellers bitter at the success of others...Before you start pointing fingers, I suggest you take it up with your police department, credit authorising co and others to investigate the facts.

His starting bid for the TZ170 is only 10 dollars less than what B&H sells them for. 'Buy it Now' is higher than B&H. For me it is not worth the hassle from this seller.

THe SSD models are the one that really stands out from other sellers. His 190 is a few hundred less than others. i personally paid 2500 flat including shipping for the tz190, other sellers had it going 2750 and higher. the 195 and 198 is far cheaper than other sellers willing to offer.

Bought from Chris August 15th. He said it shipped on August 20th for a deliver date of Sept 5th. By the time it was Sept 12th, I asked him to cancel my order and refund my money after he kept saying that the shipment was delayed at customs (I bought from PriceJapan, very happily). He said that was no problem and would refund via paypal. Then the excuses ensued...for *three months*, he promised to refund me and gave me excuse after excuse why I hadn't received it yet. I finally told him that I couldn't wait any longer and would have to pursue other means of getting my money back. He promptly sent me a bank draft that week via Fed Ex.

My suggestion - if you ordered the laptop - wait to receive it! Getting your money back might take even longer. Or, be forceful about wanting your refund - being nice and understanding didn't get me very far.

All in all, he communicated with me actively through the whole process. This, by far, was the strangest transaction in Ebay I've ever made. I got all the messages he was "honest" but then these delays had me constantly suspicious.

    Another theory,a long shot.
Maybe he has contacts in Asia, or even in Canada where they are being made. When I was in Thailand last year, I saw a lot of laptops being sold as Sony but they were knockoffs, (only reason we knew was because our guide had warned us)I could not tell the difference between the real FZ from Sony and the ones being sold in the market. When booted it looked identical to the one we had back in our room. It was going for 20,000 THB, about $500 less than US model.

good point! and the only way you could tell (if they really do look as good as you say) would be to call Sony and ask if your service tag was a genuine one!

By that point, it might be too late!

Nope. As I noted, his laptops come from an authorized US/Canada Sony reseller and one person here got theirs directly from Sony. I registered mine and verified the serial number is genuine.

    Help
I was told ill have my tz190 by chris today via Fedex, supposely the Postal unit Tz is lost/sortation. So he said 5 days ago that he fedex a 2nd unit to me and itll be deliver today. Now 5minutes ago i got a call from him saying the unit is in "Tennessee" and that itll be deliver 2morow. At this point, from the day i transfer my money to the now, its been well over 1month of waiting. I thought him and his warehouse was in Canada and it was going from canada to the US, i beleive this because the postal unit was held at custom for a whole week. But now he just told me the unit is in Tennessee and that is like 5 states down south from New Jersey. why would fedex deliver it 5 states passed NJ and then deliver it back up north again? So im really planing on calling him later when i gather my thoughts and ask for a refund. i think ima take portable One this time, though its 400 dollars more but whatever.

*sigh* wish I knew protableone earlier, so I wouldn't waste 3 months and receive nothing, and yes, I'm from Canada. Buying from Ebay Chris is my worst online shopping experience ever. 3 months waiting and all I get are excuses and lies. Feels like being fooled to get his fishy business going.
