OK, at the moment I'm in Poland, so online access is only via pay as you go Internet on my lappy - not too expensive but not good for continous browsing either, more for e-mail checking, but I have a little problem.

I can't seem to get rid of my inverted mouse pointer :(

I've got an SZ71VN/X - also the 3 prong plug with the earth contact, my socket is earthed.

I tried restarting the laptop, shutting it down, removing the battery and dischargint he mainboard by keping the power button pressed...

I can't seem to get rid of it.

On one occassion - a few days ago, it started off inverted I think, then switched to correct out of nowhere...

I'd be helpful for any advice.

I'll possibly stop by in a few hours to check for replies.

Oh, and from what I have gathered in the past here on NBR this inverted mouse is a static problem...

I may try connecting the palmrest to an earth contact... but that's the last thing that comes to my mind... :(

Hopefully someone here has a good idea :)

    Many thanks in advance.

(Just stopping by - as explained at the beginning)

    Little update:
Doing a mainboard discharge while earthing the palmresr and myself resulted in the inverted mouse not occuring before log on - the login screen was OK, I then logged on and it was inverted again :(

    Edit 2:

Sorted it - used the earth contact and a mainboard discharge, but this time I stood on a wooden floor, rather than sa on a sofa.

i.e. me + the sofa were the problem...

    Thanks for reading :)

If a mod comes by - closing the thread may be an idea.

When first seeing the post, I thought you had a problem with an inverted mouse pointer as in the pointer on the screen pointing down instead of up.

This is a common enough occurrence in X11, where the mouse pointer switches between pointing upwards and downwards depending on whether mouse buttons are active or not (and it makes sense too -- you don't obscure menu items with the mouse pointer that way). Sometimes it can hang up, and display the inverted pointer all the time. :D
I'm glad this wasn't your problem, and glad you solved it!
