Two things I did not know about the 160...
First, the biometric reader does not seem to function on battery mode. If I'm wrong, please let me know. If I'm right, it doesn't make much security sense. Perhaps there is a setting I am not familiar with to activate the fingerprint reader when the laptop is running of its battery.
Second, on all other laptops I've used, the screen dims slightly when going from ac/dc to battery. As the battery discharges the screen keeps dimming (ever so slightly). On the SZ the screen does NOT appear to dim when switching from plug-in to battery mode - this is a very good thing.
The more I use the 160 the more I like it. I'm even getting used to the keyboard (I confesss, I'm starting to actually like it!)

Go into the Device Manager and under the 'Biometric' settings you'll find the TouchChip fingerprint coprocessor. Enter the properties and under the Power Management tab, disable the option to "Allow the computer to turn this device off to save power" option. This helps a lot, but I notice that when batter power runs down to about 10%, the system turns the fingerprint reader off anyway. I still haven't found a way to change this - if anyone does, please let us know!

Where did you pick the SZ160 up, or was it ordered from Sony?
