Does anyone know if you can replace the 533MHz RAM that ships with the SZ340 with 667MHz? Seems like it ought to be possible, since the new core 2 duo chips have a 667MHz FSB. It also seems like shipping it with 533 is Sony's idea of a bad joke, slowing both the CPU *and* the video card's turbocache access to system memory.

Yes you can install 667 but it will run at 533. Search the forum if you need more info.

Have they not enabled 667 with the new c2d models yet? does anyone know if there's a reason for that, or if it's about to be changed?

The Dell M1210 2.16 has a 3D Mark 05 of 2090
The Sony SZ2 2.16 has a 3D Mark 05 of 1851
THe Dell has 667 memory. Whether that makes the M1210 faster with the 3D mark remains to be seen, and with an improvement of only 239 marks I'm not sure it would be noticible compared say to a Macbook Pro with over 2800 marks. That would put about 1000 marks between the SZ and the MBP.
SZ 340 RAM upgrade to 667 possible?
