I've been searching the forum but haven't found an answer to my questions.
I recently got a SZ330 p/b, and I really love it. The only problem is with the battery. I haven't been getting anywhere near the advertised 5 hour life, and that's understandable. But I've also been seeing some weird battery related issues. When I charge the battery overnight, and leave the AC in, the battery only charges to 93%, rarely 100%. Also, when I'm charging the battery the battery light turns off after about 90%. There have been a lot of issue with sony batteries, does anyone think I got a dud? Thanks for your help.

Yeah, marketing hype rarely lives up to its claims. I think most of those advertising claims only have the laptop on. If you want real-world usage where you're actually using the features of the laptop while you're on battery, I would spring for the BPL2C extended battery. It'll make the laptop taller and heavier but if you want to last longer than just over a movie's length with the laptop, you'll need it.
I don't have any problems with my battery not reaching 100%. Call Sony support. They might be nice enough to swap batteries with you given their recent fiasco with batteries in other brands of laptops. -
I have seen other people post about this, and my battery hardly ever completely reaches 100% charge either. Have you also noticed that when the notebook sits for a while, completely powered down and not being used, that the battery still discharges? Mine does and I find that a little odd (and aggravating).

Thanks for the responses.
Let me expand on what I'm seeing with my new SZ. When the computer is turned off, and left to charge, it won't fully charge to 100%. But, if its left on, it slowly charges to 100%. But the battery charge light turns off around 90%. Also, the calculated time left will fluctuate wildly at times. If other people are seeing the same things then I'll deal with it, I just want to make sure nothing is wrong with my Vaio. Maybe we'll see a recall of Vaio batteries soon.
Lastly, have people been using third party batteries? I saw a thread posted earlier than mentioned you have to disable a certain process, ISBMmgr or something. Have this been done with no problems? Do the third party batteries show more battery life?
Thanks guys. -
They've already announced their intention to do just that. I've just been wondering what was taking them so long, seeing as how they were the oem for all the other notebook makers batteries that are being recalled right now, you'd think they'd be right on top of it since they obviously make the batteries for their own notebooks.
