    Guys,

what is the best place to get a battery for Sony SZ (mine is 160P/C)?

I tried to get one replacement via ebay, once I installed it, the laptop refused to continue using it and went into hibernate.

THe original one is way too expensive and is not even available from major retailers. I am sure everyone who bought an SZ last year needs one now, so let me know of your experience..

    Thanks,

    Sans

I'm assuming the one you purchased off of Ebay is not an authentic one from Sony... even though, you can still use it, just have to disable one process from loading.

I don't recall exactly what the process is but I think it is ISBMgr.exe. Best use the search function on this forums, there are threads talking about this issue.

200$ for a battery? ... I guess now I know how Sony affords all the ads...

I bought my third-party battery at DSMiller and it's working great.

I bought an Original one off eBay and it works fine... It was US$80+ incl shipping... You just have to look around... The RRP is insane. =O

If it wasn't for the 'illegal' sales of the battery for 75, sony would never sell theirs for 80!
For years people have bought them for 400!
This only to stop people from buying a cheap Vaio, and adding a large capacity battery, to compete with the price of much more expensive models..

When you do a clean install, don't install certain install executables (like battery checker).
