    Hey guys,

I am a owner of the SZ220P model, and I'm planning on purchasing a new VAIO, preferably another SZ, since its such a great notebook in terms of performance and portability. However, with this older model, I've been experiencing loud fan noises, even when its idling, the whining noise can be annoying sometimes. I was wondering if Sony's fixed this problem with the new models of SZ? If not, could someone recommend or suggest a better model that matches up the SZ, but running quieter? for example the FZ for performance or TZ for portability?

    Thanks

does anyone have confirmed information of a new SZ or TZ in january? Or is that speculative?

If I were you, I'd keep the 220 until a more significant upgrade set comes out. It seems santa rosa and LCD would not be worth the upgrade yet. I would pop it open and see which fan is the bad one and just replace it :D

I'm not sure about the older SZs but SZ6s all have built in fan control system under "VAIO Power Management." There are 6 different levels, from level 1 (quietest) to level 5 (loudest) and the last one is "adaptive."

I pretty much my sz650n with the T7500 for a lot of processor intensive tasks and I find that it's pretty quiet. Almost completley silent.

By default the fan levels are at level 5 and you need to change them to adaptive.

Prepare for the upgrade of the TZ at January/February with a 1.33 CPU, Santa Rosa chipset and X3100 graphic card. Are we speaking about the perfect ultraportable or no?
