Need help, did a search and could not find anything.
I have the SZ260P.
Just recently this started to happen.
When plugged in everything is ok.
when on battery everything is ok but the LED screen light goes out and the screen is black, the computer is still running as I can hear the hdd and fan and see the screen when held at an angle w/ out light.
Than I plug the cord in and nothing happens so I remove the cord and retry and the computer turns off, not hibernate but off like no battery or power cord and I have to push the power button to turn it back on .
Does this seem lie a battery issue or something else ?
anyone else have problems like this?
It is the original battery (VGP-BPS2C 11.1V/5200m)

That does not seem like a battery issue to me....someone here might have a better idea of what is going on with your SZ. I have a SZ160 and I have and use my original battery.

Check your Power Management. Switch the Power Scheme to Always ON. Modify the Always On scheme so that your notebook never turns off monitor, never turns off hard disk, never goes on standby or hibernate. Also, turn off the screen saver. See if it makes any difference.

btw- My battery does charge and has about 2.5 to 3 hrs of life on med setting.
I just got this back fron sony for repairs, unless it is something I can due on my own it looks like it will go back. -
I have a similar issue. If I unplug or plug in my computer while it is in the process of going into sleep mode, in either situation, when I hit a key to resume from sleep mode, the computer does not "wake-up". I'm forced to hold the power button and power down the system and reboot.
After reading the above comments, I'm thinking it may also be a power management issue or some bug in Vista.
Does anyone have a similar prob? -
not a power management problem
I did the following and it is still the same.
Iam on lthe phone wwith tech support right now.
Seems to be hardware/ circuit b issue
