Please, help-I tried to figure out which 3XX models have LED dispay and which one don't.

On Sony web site it looks that all SZ 3XX models have it, but they make the remarks that only premium ones have rasor-thin dispalys.

Could you please, share your opinion if LED dispalys are something to look for , and how I can figure out which ones have them based on the US model classificarion as it looks that it's different in Europe.
I was currently looking at SZ-340 model.
    Thank you.

    WRONG!!!

Only the PREMIUMs do have the LED-Backlight, and you need the LED-Backlight to produce the Razor-Sharp-Thin-Lid.
And the razor-thin lids are all made out of carbon, because they are PREMIUM-Models.

Models 360, 370, 381 and 390 are premiums. The 320, 330 and 340's are not premium models. 360 and up have a carbon fibre chassis w/ "razor thin displays" (LED), 340 and below are conventional LCD displays with a magnesium alloy chassis.

    Thank you very much!

Another question I have - Is LED display THAT much better than the conventional one? And what makes them better? How do you see it practically?

Premium LEDs are noticeably brighter than any other VAIOs.

LED backlighting also improves color reproduction quality, which is why Sony's top-of-the-line XBR2 and 3 series LCD displays for HDTV are so highly rated (#1 in display quality, according to Consumer Reports).

YES! Buy the LED backlit unit. BIG difference. Harder to tell in the store when they jack up the brightness to 100% on both models, but I would say the LED has about 3 extra "clicks" brighter than that of the normal screen.

The difference between the two screens is night and day. I owned both, and it was worth the extra dinero.

An LED display and carbon fiber lid for an extra $500...no thanks. Plenty of other uses for that kind of money.

Besides, my SZ330 on full brightness is too bright as it is...can't imagine having brighter display.

As for european premium models, there are two of them:

    SZ3XWP/C (similar to SZ360P)

    SZ3VWP/X (similar to SZ381 or SZ390)

BTW, there are new SZ4 on horizont:

    SZ4XWN/C (replaces SZ3XWP/C)

    SZ4VWP/X (replaces SZ3VWP/X)

Those 2 are also premium with LED backlight.

    Is this thread old?

..in any case, since it's up top, I thought I'd chime in and say that I much prefer the LED screen to the standard one, and I've owned both. The clarity and brightness on the premium screens is much better.

AND, more importantly, I had issues with the standard screen making electronic buzzing noises when not set to max brightness ----- which caused me untold pain and agony (ok, not untold. I sure griped about it here a lot :p). The premium screen has none of the problems that my standard screens had.

Since I have identified my 260P as a /C model, I can understand why I was really surprised by its very high brightness and contrast ratio - it's the LED backlit display.
