    Folks,

I've recently purchased the SZ260P laptop, and I am very happy with it,except one minor drawback - I am getting scratches from opening and closing the lid of my laptop as you can see on the attached picture.

I am the only unlucky guy,or this issue has already been raised over here?

    Thanks in advance for help!

    bad news..

yeah,i have one slightly loose piece of plastic, but i assume it is because i managed to put my laptop bag pretty rough on the floor..

I am outside of US currently, therefore there is no sense in sending my laptop to Sony to fix this problem,as it is reocurring..

    thanks for assistance,man

I didn't see it on my Japanese built and sold SZ90, so maybe it's the AMerican ones? Dunno. Definitely not an issue I have.

I've seen lots of them in the Sony Style store with these scratches, for some reason mine does not.

Thats the same thing happening to my Vaio T250 after Sonystyle replaced the screen. Sony's tolerances can be off when it comes to fitting molded plastic I guess. I may end up getting a MBP since I've had my 17" aluminum Powerbook over a year and it looks brand new. I'm waiting for them to get the Merom chip though.

It must be a US issue because in all the months of opening and closing my made in Japan for the Japanese market SZ I don't have these issues.

Yes, I have them too, on the right side.
Although I usually go ape**** over such scratches on expensive electronics,
for some reason, this didn't bother me much.

Maybe because they're all uniform vertical scratches...

I don't have this problem on mine. Got mine back in April.

I was thinking...those of you with the scratches...do you carry around ur notebook in a horizontal bag or sleeve? I was thinking perhaps the top lid is being pressed down towards the round center part of the notebook which is causing the scratches. I carry mine in a vertical bag. Probably not the issue but just a thought.

In my situation, that's highly improbable.
As I mentioned before, all of the scratches are perfectly parallel.
Therefore, they must've been caused by opening/closing the notebook
    in an inappropriate manner.
    *shrug*
