I'm new to the forum, just getting that out there. Anyways, I'm having a problem on startup of my SZ120p/b. It seems that randomly on startup some of the programs that i have running will not load. Mainly, its only the battery indicator that will sometimes not load, but sometimes a few things simply wont show up in the bar on the bottom right with all the running tasks nor can you open them. I've tried to reset the BIOS(per sony) and delete and reinstall certain programs on startup through msconfig, but nothing seems to work. The thing is, it only does it one out of every 3 times or so that i restart or simply turn on the laptop and the rest of the time its fine. It's not a huge problem but is rather annoying. Any help would be appriciated.

i also have the same problem on my sz120. my battery icon in the taskbar rarely loads but everything seems to load normaly. i'm irritated with this because everytime i want to look at the battery meter i have to go to the vaio power management instead of just looking at the taskbar. i tried reinstalling thing as well and it did not solve the problem. i also made sure that the check box to show the icon at the taskbar was checked but the taskbar doesnt show it still

Yeah. Thats exactly whats happening although sometimes it could be a host of other things that dont load, but mainly the battery icon. I've done the same with checking in the settings to ensure that the check box to show the icon is checked. Its just completely random and very irritating.

For anyone who cares, I currently deleted the trial version of webroot off of my SZ and the problem with my battery and other things not loading at startup has stopped occuring. I dont know if this is simply by chance, but i did notice that at startup the webroot window took quite a long time to disappear off of the desktop.

wsrobert, by "webroot", do you mean Webroot's Spy Sweeper? Has Sony started including a trial version of this or another Webroot product with the SZ? My SZ160P did not come with Webroot Spy Sweeper, but I installed it later and had problems with the Wireless LAN Switcher in the taskbar.

These compatibility issues of Webroot Spy Sweeper with the SZ have been discussed in this forum previously. See this link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=43937

No it wasnt included(and it was only webroot spysweeper), i downloaded the trial version but never got around to paying for it and decided that it might be the cause of the problem and tried deleting it. My switcher was one of the apps that wouldnt load sometimes also, but all has been fine since i deleted the program. I'm not sure what i'll use in its place, but i do use defender, along with spybot and adaware. I'm slightly cautious i guess and might just continue to use those three although i really enjoyed some of spysweepers features. Also, thanks for the link.
