My refurb SZ440 arrived this week, but didn't include much documentation. The OS is Vista Home Premium, and I was wondering the "correct" way to go about making the recovery dvds off the hd partition. Is it done through the MS recovery tools, or does Sony include it's own software for this process.

    Thanks,
    M

Yes, it is called Vaio Recovery where you have options for creating recovery dvd/cd or restoring the system partly/completely. You can access to the software from Start/Programs in XP Pro. I assume it is the same in Vista.

I've checked everywhere and cannot seem to find the Vaio Recovery app. Maybe with Vista I'm supposed to use something that comes with windows instead?

if you go to Start-HelpandSupport-then VAIO backup and recovery. Then click on start vaio recovery hyperlink at bottom of page. This should get you to the VAIO recovery wizard where you can make your RDVD. Good luck.
